Website copy examples for HVAC technicians

Nine pages, ten examples each. All of it written from the same short record: your customer is a homeowner whose heat died in a cold snap, the credential they check is EPA-certified and NATE-certified, and what they are quietly worried about is being sold a whole new system when a repair would have done.

Writing for HVAC technicians

What should an HVAC technician’s website say that a generic one does not?

Three things, in this order. That you are EPA and NATE certified. That you understand the thing people are actually worried about, which for HVAC technicians is being sold a whole new system when a repair would have done. And what happens next: we diagnose first and tell you honestly whether it is worth fixing. Everything else on the page is decoration by comparison.

What does a homeowner whose heat died in a cold snap check first?

The credential, then the proof. For HVAC technicians it sounds like this. We quote the repair before we quote the replacement. We size equipment from a load calculation, not a guess. We do warranty work the manufacturer authorises. Put at least one of those above the fold rather than on a separate page nobody opens.

What is the most common mistake on an HVAC technician’s website?

Writing about the business instead of the customer. "We have been established since 1998" answers a question nobody asked. "We diagnose first and tell you honestly whether it is worth fixing" answers the one they are actually holding. If you only fix one thing, fix that.

How long should the copy be?

Shorter than you think, except where trust is being built. An About page of 120 well-chosen words beats 500 vague ones. The exception is anything explaining being sold a whole new system when a repair would have done — there, specifics earn their length.
